In the 1990′s the Timber Unit of the Maha Bhoga Marga Foundation was one of the pilot projects known as the Warehouse of Appropriate Technology Development (BPTT). The pilot project aims were to provide carpentry and welding skills training for youth of the church and community who had missed the opportunity in developing their skills in this field. These skills were important because it was the first step to become an mebulair entrepreneur.
Following this time there was a rapid development of the timber industry as a result of the tourism sector and the growing timber needs of the church. Production of wood products then became apart of MBM’s 5-year strategic planning (2007-2012) and the Unit of Wood Industry was then established as a fund raising unit of MBM.
Today, UNIKA operates as a business unit of MBM seeking to provide professional services to the community with quality products and competitive prices.
